Job summary

The US Oncology Network is seeking a Patient Benefits Representative to support the Medical Oncology Department at Texas Oncology in Harker Heights, TX. This full-time role runs Monday through Friday, 8:30a-5:00p, at 800 West Central Texas Expressway Suite 305.

Level will be 1 or Sr based on experience; responsibilities include educating patients on coverage, assisting with financial aid, and coordinating with billing and clinical staff to ensure accurate payments and documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum three (3) years patient pre-services coordinator or equivalent required.
• Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) required.
• Demonstrate knowledge of CPT coding and HCPS coding application.
• Must be able to verbally communicate clearly and utilize the appropriate and correct terminology.
• Must successfully complete required e-learning courses within 90 days of occupying position.

Responsibilities

• Pre-treatment, collects insurance info; educates patients on coverage, benefits, co-pays, and out-of-pocket costs.
• Assess patients' ability to meet expenses and discuss payment arrangements; educate on financial assistance programs.
• Completes reimbursement and liability forms for patient review; forwards to billing.
• Obtains insurance pre-authorization or referral codes from Clinical Reviewer prior to treatment.
• Reviews patient account balance and notifies front desk to arrange meetings.
• Ensures co-pay amount is entered correctly for collection.
• Verifies demographics and insurance in system at each visit per SOPs.
• Stays current on financial aide; develops relationships with providers.
• Maintains confidentiality per HIPAA; adheres to privacy guidelines.
• Maintains manuals/logs/forms; performs other duties as requested.
• Other duties as requested.
