Job summary

The US Oncology Network, including Texas Oncology, is seeking a Patient Benefits Representative to support the Medical Oncology Department in Harker Heights, TX. This full-time role calls for strong coordination of benefits, patient education on coverage and costs, and collaboration with the billing team.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, 3+ years coordinating patient pre-services, and proficiency with Microsoft Office; Sr level adds an associate degree or revenue-cycle experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum three (3) years patient pre-services coordinator or equivalent required.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) required.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of CPT coding and HCPCS coding application.
  • Must be able to verbally communicate clearly and utilize the appropriate terminology.
  • Must successfully complete required e-learning courses within 90 days of occupying position.

Responsibilities

  • Before patient treatment, obtain insurance coverage information and demographics; educate patient on coverage, benefits, co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses.
  • Assess patients' ability to meet expenses and discuss payment arrangements; inform about financial assistance and assist with forms; complete Patient Cost Estimate form.
  • Prepare reimbursement and liability forms for patient review; forward information to billing office.
  • Obtain insurance pre-authorization or referral codes from Clinical Reviewer prior to treatment.
  • Review patient balances and notify front desk of patients to meet with; ensure accurate co-pay entry.
  • Verify/update demographics and insurance coverage at each visit per SOPs; maintain confidentiality.
  • Stay current on financial aid options; network with aid providers for leads.
  • Adhere to confidentiality and HIPAA laws; maintain documentation.
  • Perform additional duties as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills

Education
