Job summary

The US Oncology Network is seeking a Patient Benefits Representative to join Texas Oncology in Cedar Park, TX. This full-time role supports the Medical Oncology Department, with occasional travel to Marble Falls. Monday–Friday, 8:30a–5:00p.

The ideal candidate educates patients on insurance coverage and benefits and coordinates with billing to ensure accurate co-pays and referrals. Level 1 or Sr depending on experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) required.
• Knowledge of CPT/HCPCS coding.
• Able to communicate clearly and use correct terminology.
• Must complete required e-learning within 90 days of starting.

Responsibilities

• Prior to treatment, obtains insurance coverage information and demographics; educates patient on coverage, benefits, co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses.
• Assesses patient ability to meet expenses and discusses payment arrangements; educates on financial assistance programs and assists with forms; completes Patient Cost Estimate form.
• Completes reimbursement and liability forms for patient review and forwards to billing.
• Obtains insurance pre-authorization or referral codes from Clinical Reviewer prior to treatment.
• Reviews patient account balance and notifies front desk for follow-up.
• Ensures patient co-pay is correctly entered into the system or conveyed to front desk for collection.
• Verifies and updates demographics and coverage at each visit per SOPs.
• Maintains knowledge of available financial aide and networks with providers for leads.
• Maintains confidentiality per HIPAA laws and guidelines.
