Job summary

The US Oncology Network's Texas Oncology clinic in Harker Heights, TX seeks a Patient Benefits Representative to support pre-treatment financial clearance and patient education on insurance coverage and billing.

The role is full-time, coordinating with Clinical and Billing staff to verify coverage, assist with financial aid options, and ensure accurate demographic and insurance data are documented at each visit.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum three (3) years patient pre-services coordinator or equivalent required.
• Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) required.
• Demonstrate knowledge of CPT coding and HCPCS coding application.
• Must be able to verbally communicate clearly and utilize the appropriate and correct terminology.
• Must successfully complete required e-learning courses within 90 days of occupying position.

Responsibilities

• Obtain insurance coverage information and demographics prior to treatment; educate patient on coverage, benefits, co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses.
• Assess patient ability to meet expenses; discuss payment arrangements and financial assistance programs; complete Patient Cost Estimate form.
• Complete reimbursement and liability forms for patient review and signature; forward information to billing office.
• Obtain insurance pre-authorization or referral codes from Clinical Reviewer prior to each treatment.
• Review patient balances and notify front desk for collection meetings.
• Ensure correct entry of patient co-pays in the system or convey to front desk for collection.
• Update demographics and coverage in the system at each patient visit per SOPs.
• Stay current on financial aide options; build relationships with aid providers and obtain leads.
