Job summary

Cancer Center of South Florida is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to manage patient registration, scheduling, and related administrative tasks to ensure smooth clinic operations.

You will verify demographics, collect co-pays, schedule appointments (lab, procedures, chemotherapy), handle referrals, and respond to patient inquiries while maintaining accurate records and HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–2 years in healthcare or medical office preferred.
• Experience with EMR systems (Epic) strongly preferred.
• Prior front office/registration or insurance verification in a clinical setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and verify demographics, collect co-pays and required paperwork.
• Schedule lab visits, procedures, follow-ups, and chemotherapy appointments using infusion scheduling software.
• Process referrals with physicians, APPs, and nursing staff for seamless patient care.
• Answer patient inquiries via phone and other channels with clear, accurate information.
• Maintain organized patient files, scan records, and document patient interactions.
• Verify insurance coverage and CMS medical necessity requirements; communicate coverage details to patients (ABNs).
• Complete Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaires per CMS standards.
• Make outgoing calls to reschedule missed appointments, including telehealth follow-ups.
• Perform other admin and patient access duties as needed.
