Job summary

Baseten is hiring a People Operations Coordinator in San Francisco to own the onboarding experience for new hires—from signing to Day 1. You’ll coordinate tasks, background checks, I-9s, and travel, while partnering with Mobility for immigration matters. The role is onboarding-focused now and will expand with our evolving employee lifecycle.

You’ll work closely with IT, Workplace, and HRIS systems, supporting day-one access and a smooth start for new teammates in a fast-growing AI startup.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years in a high-volume coordination or operations role.
• Extremely organized and detail-oriented with a get-it-done approach.
• Self-directed and comfortable with ambiguity.
• Extremely clear written communicator.
• Based in San Francisco and able to work in the office 3+ days per week.

Responsibilities

• Own the full onboarding experience for every new hire, including: new hire communication from offer signature through Day 1; ensuring completion of onboarding tasks like background checks, Form I-9s, setting up HRIS profiles, etc; coordinating travel logistics; partnering with the Global Mobility Manager on immigration matters that may affect start dates.
• Support day one and San Franciscoweek one onboarding program, including coordinating with managers and buddies, room booking and coordination of start location
• Partner with IT and Workplace so new hires have the right access, equipment, and desk waiting on day one
• Manage the logistics behind our onboarding platform and manage the day-to-day vendor relationship
• Support more moments in the employee lifecycle as the role evolves, from job changes to location moves and more
• Bring ideas for making the day-to-day run smoother, from automating a task to fixing a clunky step
• Handle sensitive employee information with discretion
