Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Solar Field Service Technician (Level 1) to perform field maintenance on solar equipment at our Coulterville, IL site. The role prioritizes safety and requires basic electrical/hydraulic understanding, testing skills, and the ability to follow procedures.

The position explores on-site maintenance across multiple solar plants under supervision, with opportunities for training and certification growth. On-call duties and travel up to 10% are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; vocational/technical training is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to operate in mechanical/electrical environments.
• Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to perform Lock Out/Tag Out of energized parts/systems.
• Basic knowledge of solar installation/plant operations.
• Familiarity with testing equipment used in solar facilities.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• NFPA 70e Safety Training certification required and ongoing safety training.
• Strong safety mindset and ongoing training maintenance.
• Clear and effective English communication, both written and verbal.
• Good organizational skills and ability to work remotely as needed.
• Willingness to be on-call for emergency repairs.
• Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize safety and ensure safe work practices on-site.
• Work safely and seek guidance for unfamiliar tasks.
• Operate and care for company equipment and tooling.
• Service solar equipment at multiple plants under supervision.
• Perform basic testing, troubleshooting and maintenance on solar equipment.
• Replace or repair solar parts as directed.
• Respond to on-call requests for emergency repairs.
• Prepare accurate reports and documentation of work performed.
• Contribute to process improvements and new technologies with EPC teams.
• Maintain SOLV Energy culture, diversity and inclusion.
• Travel up to 10% for training, certifications and site coverage.
