Job summary

Pediatrix Medical Group is hiring a Newborn Hearing Screen Technician to perform hospital-based hearing screens for newborns and educate families about the screening process. The role requires accurate data collection and timely documentation, with on-the-job training and annual certification by the American Academy of Audiology.

On-site work at hospital locations with duties including screening readiness, patient education, and coordination of follow-up referrals.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• CPR certification is required or must be obtained upon offer.
• Flexibility to work on weekends and national holidays is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform hearing screens for all eligible newborns during each shift.
• Evaluate patient readiness (fed, quiet, calm) before screening.
• Collect data/demographics for each baby and ensure documentation is complete.
• Provide education to parents on the importance of screening and results.
• Upload screen results and billing/state reporting by shift end; reconcile statistics.
• Maintain efficiency without compromising quality or education for families.
• Notify Site Supervisor of missed or refer babies and coordinate outpatient referrals.
