Job summary

SSA Marine in California seeks an Assistant Manager, IT Field Services to lead day-to-day IT operations for a large container terminal network. As the on-site senior IT leader, you ensure service delivery, continuity, and alignment with business goals while bridging terminal leadership and centralized IT.

You will supervise Field IT staff, coordinate staffing and on-call coverage, monitor incidents and metrics, and work with Cybersecurity and enterprise IT to provide secure, reliable technology.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field; or equivalent education/experience.
• Minimum 7 years IT experience with lead or supervisory experience.
• ITIL certification is required.
• Experience in terminal, industrial, transportation, logistics, or OT environments.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft endpoint technologies, identity and access administration, desktop hardware, networks, and change practices.
• Proven ability to supervise and manage priorities and people.
• Knowledge of network and security qualifications (Network+, Security+).
• Occasional travel between terminals is expected.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise Field IT employees with day-to-day direction and coaching.
• Coordinate staffing, schedules, overtime, on-call coverage, and priorities for terminal coverage.
• Monitor tickets, service levels, incidents, and metrics; address gaps and escalate risks.
• Serve as first management escalation for endpoint, network, infrastructure, and OT-adjacent issues.
• Direct local incident response, communication, service restoration, and post-incident follow-through.
• Coordinate changes, patching, maintenance windows, and emergency changes within delegated authority.
• Manage vendor work, local projects, and equipment needs within authority.
• Support hiring, onboarding, workforce planning, and performance processes; provide input to Manager for reviews.
• Partner with terminal leadership and Cybersecurity on priorities, security awareness, and remediation.
• Maintain documentation in ServiceNow and other systems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
