Job summary

GFL Industries is seeking a skilled heavy equipment operator in Michigan to safely operate excavators, front loaders, bulldozers, and related machinery at our landfill or transfer station sites. The role requires attention to safety, daily inspections, and the ability to follow site procedures.

You will bale and load waste, grease and check fluids, perform basic maintenance, and communicate with teams using radios.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is desirable but not required.
• Forklift certification.
• Ability to obtain Transfer Station/Landfill Operations Certification if needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment to bale and load waste or other material into trailers.
• Perform inspection and maintenance checks of equipment daily.
• Grease/lubricate equipment and check/add fluids daily.
• Steer, guide and drive listed equipment at assigned sites as needed.
• Substitute for another operator when necessary.
• Clean trash from tracks of heavy equipment daily or as needed.
• Use two-way radio to communicate with co-workers regarding work activities, requirements and priorities.
