Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a heavy equipment operator in Michigan to safely operate excavators, loaders, bulldozers, and related machinery. The role involves bale loading, material movement, and daily safety-first work in industrial environments.

You will perform routine inspections, grease and check fluids, and substitute for teammates as needed. Strong adherence to safety procedures and English communication are essential for field coordination and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Must be able to follow safety instructions and operate equipment with minimal supervision.
• Ability to read gauges and perform basic math for daily maintenance and operations.
• English language proficiency including reading, writing and speaking for communication.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment to bale and load waste or material into trailers.
• Perform daily inspections and maintenance checks on equipment.
• Grease, lubricate, and check fluids daily to keep equipment in good condition.
• Steer/drive heavy equipment as required at assigned sites with standard controls.
• Cover for other operators as needed and maintain site cleanliness.
• Communicate via two-way radio about work activities and priorities.
• Comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Attend safety and branch meetings and participate in required training.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
