Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking an equipment operator to bale and load waste, perform daily inspections, and maintain machinery at the Michigan site. The role requires operating heavy machinery, communicating with the crew, and adhering to safety procedures.

The candidate should be able to work outdoors in variable weather, follow instructions, and lift up to 50 pounds as part of daily tasks. A forklift certification is required, with possible certification upgrades available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is desirable but not required.
• Forklift certification is required.
• Ability to obtain Transfer Station/Landfill Operations Certification if needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment to bale and load waste or material into trailers.
• Perform daily inspection and maintenance checks on equipment.
• Grease/lubricate equipment and check/add fluids daily.
• Steer, guide, or drive equipment at the assigned site as needed.
• Substitute for another operator when absent.
• Clean debris from tracks and gears daily or as needed.
• Use two-way radio to coordinate with team about work priorities.
• Comply with all laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Maintain grounds and facility appearance; attend safety meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
