Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a hands-on equipment operator for our Wisconsin site. You will bale and load waste material, perform routine maintenance, and ensure safety and compliance on the job. The role requires operating multiple heavy machines and following site procedures.

Must be able to read and speak English, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, and work outdoors in varied conditions. This position emphasizes reliability, teamwork, and adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is preferred but not required.
• Forklift certification required; ability to obtain Transfer Station / Landfill Certification if needed.
• Must read, speak, understand and write English clearly.
• Ability to lift/push/pull up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment to bale and load waste material into trailers.
• Perform daily inspection and maintenance checks on equipment.
• Grease and lubricate equipment; monitor fluids daily.
• Drive or operate listed equipment at the site with basic controls.
• Substitute for other operators as needed.
• Keep work area and grounds orderly and safe.
• Communicate via two-way radio regarding activities and priorities.
• Follow all laws, policies, and safety directives.
• Attend safety meetings and contribute to branch safety.
