Job summary

BB&E is seeking a dynamic Hazardous Waste Coordinator for NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. The on-site coordinator will implement a comprehensive hazardous waste program, handling labeling, pickup, transport, characterization, and cradle-to-grave data tracking for mixed waste streams.

The role requires 3+ years in hazardous waste coordination, Houston experience, and compliance with 40 CFR Parts 260–268 and 279. Strong communication and MS Office skills are essential.

Qualifications

• US citizenship is required.
• Ability to pass a federal agency background check.
• 3+ years as Hazardous Waste Coordinator; Houston experience preferred.
• Experience tracking data in Excel; NASA/federal agency exposure desirable.
• HAZWOPER 24-hour training; RCRA Haz Waste; DOT HazMat certification.
• Minimum high school diploma.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement a comprehensive hazardous waste program.
• Manage self-lab pack operations and off-site waste shipments.
• Prepare permit renewals and maintain waste records.
• Conduct waste sampling, characterization, labeling and manifesting.
• Perform weekly inspections of Central Accumulation Areas (CAA).
• Provide annual hazardous waste training.
