Job summary

BB&E is seeking a dynamic Hazardous Waste Coordinator for NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. The on-site role coordinates a comprehensive hazardous waste program across streams including hazardous, regulated, TSCA, and waste construction and demolition, ensuring compliance with CFR 40 Parts 61, 260–279, and 761.

The position supports cradle-to-grave waste management, labeling, manifesting, sampling, and data tracking, requiring experience with self-lab packs, waste profiles, and off-site

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years as Hazardous Waste Coordinator; Houston experience required.
• NASA or federal agency experience desirable.
• 24-hour HAZWOPER training; RCRA Haz Waste Management Certification; DOT HazMat Shipping and Storage required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate hazardous waste program in accordance with 40 CFR Parts 260–268 and 279.
• Manage self-lab pack operations and off-site waste shipments.
• Assess environmental liability of properties and materials of concern.
• Implement hazardous materials/waste information systems across sites.
• Prepare permit renewals and maintain waste records (cradle-to-grave).
• Conduct inspections and provide training on hazardous waste management.
