Job summary

BB&E is seeking a dynamic Hazardous Waste Technician for NASA Langley Research Center located in Houston, TX at Johnson Space Center. The role involves hands-on management of hazardous and medical waste, waste sampling, and regulatory compliance in a lab and field setting.

Responsibilities include waste collection, lab packing, manifesting, and coordinating on-site transport and off-site disposal, with a strong emphasis on safety, accuracy, and environmental regulations.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 3 years experience is required.
• 24-hour HAZWOPER training; RCRA Haz Waste Management Certification; DOT HazMat Shipping and Storage is required.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Ability to pass a federal agency background check.
• Proficiency with MS Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required.

Responsibilities

• Collect hazardous waste lab waste and medical waste samples.
• Segregate and process hazardous waste by hazard class.
• Perform waste packaging, labeling, manifesting, and cradle-to-grave tracking.
• Coordinate pickup and shipment of hazardous and medical waste.
• Maintain records of waste disposal, results, and waste profiles.
• Provide guidance to generators on proper labeling, storage, and management of hazardous waste.
