Job summary

Softtek is seeking a Desktop Support Specialist to provide hands-on IT support for end users in Schaumburg, IL. You will resolve incidents, assist with hardware and software, and ensure smooth day-to-day technology operations in a customer-focused environment.

This on-site role requires strong communication, problem-solving, and the ability to lift IT equipment. Training and team collaboration are offered within a structured support setting.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide Tier 1–2 desktop support for hardware, operating systems, standard business applications, printers, mobile devices, and peripherals.
• Diagnose and resolve user issues related to Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, email, VPN, and common enterprise applications.
• Install, configure, and maintain desktop and laptop systems, monitors, and accessories.
• Perform basic network troubleshooting (connectivity, Wi‑Fi access, device mapping).
• Respond to service desk tickets and walk‑up requests per SLAs.
• Document issues, resolutions, and procedures in IT ticketing system.
• Educate end users on security practices and standard tools.
• Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff or vendors.
• Track IT assets (hardware/software inventory).
• Assist with onboarding/offboarding tasks (equipment setup, access provisioning).
• Apply updates, patches, and basic security configurations.
• Follow IT/security/data-privacy policies.
• Report security incidents promptly.
• Support audits with documentation.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
