Job summary

Hensel Phelps is hiring laborers for an on-site role in Los Angeles, CA. Responsibilities include assisting form carpenters and concrete operations, moving materials, and supporting masons and carpenters on a safety-sensitive site.

The position demands physical endurance, a valid driver’s license, and strict adherence to safety practices. Applicants should be prepared for heavy lifting, long periods of standing, and teamwork to ensure efficient workflow.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Follow safe work practices as per safety program.
• Must be able to take initiative and ask questions.
• Possess a keen attention to detail and be able to follow instructions.
• Workers must provide their own safety footwear.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers and stakeholders.
• Strong mathematical reasoning and quantitative skills.
• Must be reliable and punctual.

• Preferred Qualifications: OSHA 10 Certification, CPR & First Aid Certification.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in construction layout, blueprint reading and shop drawing reading.

Responsibilities

• Prepare areas for the placement of concrete with final excavation and fine grading for floor slabs.
• Shovel for extended periods of time.
• Assemble concrete forms and lift prefabricated metal form panels and assist in placement.
• Handle the concrete bucket suspended from a crane and transfer concrete to placement area.
• Muck the concrete in slabs to spread it evenly after pouring.
• Strip concrete forms and transport them for storage after curing.
• Assist concrete finishers with power trowels and power screeds to finish the surface.
• Support block masons by handling and transporting bags of cement, lime, sand, and grout; stock blocks and bricks.
• Assist carpenters in handling and setting door frames; transport frames to work areas and stack as needed.
• Load, unload, identify building materials, machinery and tools; distribute site materials according to plans and specs; keep site clean and safe.
• Promote a safe work environment and communicate jobsite hazards; secure the jobsite at day’s end and store materials properly.
