Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners, process data in Artec Studio, and deliver scan-to-CAD results for diverse projects across construction sites and plants.

You will plan scans, verify data on-site, manage drift, and produce reports and CAD-ready files for clients. The role requires travel and a valid driver's license; company offers growth within a new service line.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience operating a handheld structured-light or laser scanner on real projects with examples.
Working knowledge of Artec Studio or comparable scan-processing software; mesh cleanup, registration, export.
Familiarity with CAD and reading structural or fabrication drawings.
Comfortable on active construction sites and in industrial plants; able to carry equipment, climb, and work outdoors.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable record; able to travel and fly with equipment.
Experience with scan-to-CAD, Geomagic Design X, or metrology reporting is a plus.
ACI, NICET, or ICC certifications are a plus; company sponsors them.

Responsibilities

Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar and embeds before concrete placement, etc.
Control drift on large objects with reference features and overlapping zones.
Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, and export formats.
Produce deviation maps, reports, and coordinate reports against drawings or CAD.
Build scan-to-CAD solids for reverse engineering and fit-up checks.
Document capture procedures, equipment settings, and chain of custody.
Coordinate access, permits, and safety with superintendents and plant contacts.
Travel to regional hubs as assigned.
