Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a trained 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners (Artec Leo, Eva, or Space Spider) on concrete, structural, and industrial projects. You will capture data on site, process it with Artec Studio, and deliver meshes, reports, and scan-to-CAD files for client use.

Responsibilities include planning scans, controlling drift, verifying capture completeness, producing deviation maps and coordinate reports, and coordinating access and safety.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating handheld scanners on real projects.
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio for scan processing.
• Familiarity with CAD and reading structural/fabrication drawings.
• Comfortable on active construction sites and able to carry equipment.
• Valid driver's license with clean record; able to travel.
• Experience with scan-to-CAD and related reporting is a plus.
• ACI, NICET, ICC certifications are a plus and sponsorable.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar, embeds, and structures.
• Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlap zones.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, export formats.
• Produce deviation maps, reports, and anchor bolt coordinates against drawings.
• Create scan-to-CAD solids for reverse engineering and fit-up checks.
• Document capture procedures, equipment settings, and chain of custody.
• Keep scanner, batteries, and calibration records organized.
• Coordinate access, permits, and safety with supervisors.
• Travel to regional hubs as assigned.
