Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a skilled 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners (Artec Leo, Eva, or Space Spider) on concrete, steel, and industrial projects. You will process data in Artec Studio, prepare meshes and scan-to-CAD files, and deliver actionable reports to clients.

Responsibilities include site scans, drift control, and coordinating access with plant contacts, with travel to regional hubs as assigned.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating handheld 3D scanners on real projects.
• Familiarity with Artec Studio or similar scan-processing software.
• Ability to read structural or fabrication drawings in CAD formats.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar and embeds before concrete placement and other structures.
• Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlapping zones.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, export to STL/OBJ/E57 and CAD formats.
• Produce deviation maps, reports, crack maps, pit-depth tables and anchor bolt reports.
