Job summary

Construction Materials Testing seeks a 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners (Artec Leo, Eva or Space Spider) on real-world projects across plants and sites. You will capture data, verify on-site, process in Artec Studio, and deliver meshes, reports, and scan-to-CAD outputs for client use.

Qualifications include hands-on scanner experience, CAD familiarity, and the ability to travel to regional hubs.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience operating a handheld structured-light or laser scanner on real projects.
Working knowledge of Artec Studio or comparable software for mesh cleanup and registration.
Familiarity with CAD drawings and ability to read structural or fabrication drawings.
Comfortable on active construction sites and in industrial plants; able to carry equipment outdoors.
Valid driver's license with acceptable record; able to travel and fly with equipment.

Responsibilities

Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of sites and structures before concrete placement.
Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlap checks.
Verify data capture completeness on site before leaving.
Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, and export to STL/OBJ/E57.
Produce deviation maps, reports, and anchor bolt coordinates against drawings.
Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering and fit-up checks.
Document capture procedures, equipment settings, and chain of custody.
Coordinate access, permits, and safety with project stakeholders.
