Job summary

The Mount Sinai Health System is seeking an Offsite Patient Coordinator to greet patients and verify demographics and insurance. You will schedule visits, ensure coverage, and coordinate with billing to collect co-pays while upholding HIPAA guidelines.

Responsibilities include updating records, arranging referrals, and keeping patients informed about wait times. Training is provided on-site, with a strong emphasis on accurate data entry and customer service in a busy medical setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• At least 1 year physician practice experience.
• On-site training of 1 week will be provided.
• Prefer experience in a medical office using scheduling systems.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients in person or by phone and update demographics.
• Verify insurance before or at visit to ensure coverage.
• Coordinate with staff to prepare patient records for physicians.
• Process HIPAA paperwork and other forms as needed.
• Obtain referrals or insurance authorizations as required.
• Monitor waiting room status and communicate wait times.
• Collect co-pays and provide receipts per cash control rules.
• Schedule follow-up appointments and share records access guidelines.
• May perform charge entry or record payments and prepare deposits.
• Answer phones and schedule appointments.
• Follow HIPAA and other state/federal PHI handling rules.
• May make reminder calls for next-day appointments.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
