Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients and updates insurance/demographics in the practice management system.
  • Verifies insurance prior to visit or at arrival.
  • Communicate with staff regarding patient arrival and ensure patient records are available.
  • Processes HIPAA-related paperwork and other forms as needed.
  • Collects referrals or insurance authorizations as required.
  • Monitor waiting room status and inform patients of wait times.
  • Collect copayments and provide receipts per cash-control procedures.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments and provide guidance for medical records requests.
  • May perform simple charge entry or enter payments and prepare deposits.
  • Answer phones and schedule appointments.
  • Adhere to HIPAA and PHI handling requirements.
  • Initiate reminder calls for next-day appointments.
  • Perform other related duties.
