Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking an Operations Associate/Monitor Tech for the Observation Unit at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. The role supports bed management, patient monitoring, and interdisciplinary communication to ensure efficient patient flow and safety.

Responsibilities include using OA Gold, CIS, SMS, and other systems, coordinating with hospitalists, and assisting with discharge planning while maintaining accuracy in patient records and daily rounds.

Qualifications

• GED or HiSET required.
• One year of acute care experience preferred.
• Must take and pass required dysrhythmia course within 6 weeks of hire.

Responsibilities

• Bed management: track, prioritize, and assign beds; communicate admissions, discharges and transfers.
• Utilize computer applications daily: OA Gold, SMS, CIS, Premise, BMD, PCM Auditor, PeopleSoft.
• Provide unit-based support for Hospitalists and clinical teams.
• Handle communications and handoffs to receive/report patient status and discharge plans.
• Manage unit records, documentation, and routine reports for patient flow and throughput.
• Assist with staffing coordination and supply management.
• Support post-discharge follow-up and patient transport coordination.
• Maintain unit logs and regulatory/compliance documentation.
• Identify and report rhythm abnormalities to nursing staff and monitor EKGs.
