Job summary

Baystate Health’s Observation Unit in Springfield, MA is seeking an Operations Associate/Monitor Tech. The role supports bed management, alarms, patient monitoring, and coordination with Care teams in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Ideal candidates have at least one year of acute care experience and can complete a required dysrhythmia course within six weeks. The position offers full-time and part-time hours with 7am–7:30pm shifts and rotating holidays.

Qualifications

• One year of acute care experience.
• GED or HiSET (Required).
• Must take and pass required dysrhythmia course within 6 weeks of hire.

Responsibilities

• Bed management: tracks, prioritizes and assigns beds; communicates with team for admissions, discharges and transfers.
• Proficiently uses OA Gold, CIS, Premise, BMD, SMS and other systems daily.
• Participates in unit projects and staffing/ scheduling tasks.
• Provides handoff reports, coordinates with departments for tests and procedures.
• Supports Hospitalists with rounds, calls, and consults as directed.
• Maintains patient charts, discharge/transfer records and unit logs.
• Greets new patients and families, answers questions, and assists with staffing coverage.
• Maintains supply inventories and unit logs; initiates requisitions as needed.
• Knows emergency procedures and locates equipment; supports emergency response.
• Records EKG monitor strips and ensures proper placement of monitoring equipment.
• Demonstrates one-to-one observation competency as required.
