Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Lead Cloud Engineer to shape the Observability Platform. You will design and scale telemetry pipelines across multiple clouds, developing self-service capabilities and ensuring secure, reliable data flows for thousands of workloads.

You will mentor teams, drive OpenTelemetry adoption, and collaborate across SRE, Platform, and Cloud groups to set reliability standards and implement robust monitoring and incident response.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• 5+ years with observability practices (SLIs/SLOs/SLAs, alerting, incidents).
• 5+ years building production-grade backend services in Go and/or Java.
• 5+ years implementing and operating OpenTelemetry.
• 5+ years with cloud-native platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, Argo CD).
• 5+ years with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• 3+ years designing and scaling distributed data pipelines.
• 3+ years with Helmcharts, Kustomize.
• 3+ years with Grafana OSS or similar observability backends.
• 3+ years with Terraform or CloudFormation.
• 3+ years with PostgreSQL or MySQL.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate core observability platform services using Go, Python, Java (Spring Boot).
• Lead enterprise-wide adoption of OpenTelemetry and related conventions.
• Architect and scale high-throughput telemetry pipelines (logs, metrics, traces).
• Develop self-service observability capabilities for onboarding and troubleshooting.
• Implement end-to-end monitoring with SLOs, health checks, and alerts.
• Collaborate with SRE, Platform, and Cloud teams to set reliability standards.
• Participate in on-call rotations and lead incident reviews.
• Automate workflows with CI/CD enhancements and platform automation.
• Ensure secure telemetry pipelines with mTLS and secrets management.
• Produce high-quality technical documentation and best practices.
