Job summary

Piedmont Newton Hospital in Covington, GA is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support obstetrical operations in the Labor and Delivery operating room. You will handle instruments, supplies, and equipment, understand the procedure, and anticipate the surgeon's needs while maintaining a sterile field.

Under the direction of a registered nurse, you will perform patient care duties, complete required certifications (BCLS on hire; NRP preferred), and collaborate with the obstetric team to ensure

Qualifications

• Graduate from a Surgical Technologist training program Required
• 1 year previous operating room experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist Required
• 3 years of experience providing direct patient care in a clinical setting Required
• BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
• NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Preferred

Responsibilities

• Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment during obstetrical operations in the OR in Labor and Delivery.
• Anticipate the surgeon's needs based on procedure understanding.
• Maintain a sterile field and ensure quality patient care during operative procedures.
• Perform patient care duties under the direction of a registered nurse.

He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. Performs patient care duties under the direction of a registered nurse.
