Job summary

Piedmont Newton Hospital in Covington, GA, seeks a Surgical Technologist to assist in obstetrical operations in the Operating Room within the Labor and Delivery unit.

You will handle instruments, supplies, and equipment, anticipate the surgeon’s needs, and ensure quality patient care while maintaining the sterile field under RN supervision.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a Surgical Technologist training program is required.
• 1 year of OR experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist is required.
• 3 years of direct patient care experience in a clinical setting is required.
• BCLS - Basic Life Support required; NRP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment for obstetrical operations in the OR in Labor and Delivery.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and maintain quality patient care during operative procedures.
• Maintain a vigilant sterile field under the direction of a registered nurse.

He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. Performs patient care duties under the direction of a registered nurse.

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Work Experience

• Graduate from a Surgical Technologist training program Required or
• 1 year previous operating room experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist Required or
• 3 years of experience providing direct patient care in a clinical setting Required

Licenses and Certifications

• BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
• NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Preferred
