Job summary

Piedmont Cartersville is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support obstetrical operations in the Labor and Delivery OR. You will handle instruments and supplies, anticipate surgeon needs, and help maintain a sterile field while delivering quality patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, completion of a surgical technologist program, and BCLS certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a Surgical Technologist training program.
• 1 year previous operating room experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist.
• 3 years of experience providing direct patient care in a clinical setting.
• BCLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment for obstetrical operations in the OR in Labor and Delivery.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and ensure quality patient care during the operation.
• Maintain the sterile field and vigil for sterility throughout the procedure.
• Perform patient care duties under the direction of a registered nurse.

He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.
