Job summary

Piedmont Newton Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist for obstetrical procedures in the Labor and Delivery unit's Operating Room. You will anticipate the surgeon's needs, maintain a sterile field, and provide patient care under the direction of a registered nurse.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• Graduate from a Surgical Technologist program.
• 1 year OR experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist.
• 3 years of direct patient care in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment for obstetrical operations in the OR.
• Maintain sterile field and support the surgeon under RN supervision.

He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. Performs patient care duties under the direction of a registered nurse.

Work Experience

• Graduate from a Surgical Technologist training program Required or
• 1 year previous operating room experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist Required or
• 3 years of experience providing direct patient care in a clinical setting Required

Licenses and Certifications

• BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
• NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Preferred
