Job summary

Piedmont Henry Hospital in Stockbridge, GA is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support obstetrical operations in the Labor and Delivery OR.

You will anticipate the surgeon's needs, maintain sterile fields, handle instruments and supplies, and perform patient care duties under the direction of a registered nurse.

Education includes a high school diploma or GED and graduation from a Surgical Technologist program; 1 year OR experience or 3 years direct patient care; BCLS is required, NRP preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: H.S. Diploma or GED is required.
• Graduate from a Surgical Technologist training program is required.
• 1 year OR experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist is required or three years of direct patient care in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment needed during obstetrical operations in the Operating Room located in the Labor and Delivery unit.
• Maintain quality patient care during operative procedures and vigil for sterile field maintenance.
• Perform patient care duties under the direction of a registered nurse.

He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Work Experience

• Graduate from a Surgical Technologist training program Required or
• 1 year previous operating room experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist Required or
• 3 years of experience providing direct patient care in a clinical setting Required

Licenses and Certifications

• BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
• NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Preferred
