Job summary

South Shore Health in Massachusetts seeks a Clinical Professional Development Specialist to lead and educate nursing initiatives, coordinating education programs for the Birthing & Mother Infant Unit and staff onboarding. This role advances competence and evidence-based practice across the nursing division.

The position emphasizes transition-to-practice programs, mentorship, and inter-professional collaboration, with MSN and AWHONN fetal monitoring instructor credentials preferred.

Qualifications

• BSN in Nursing required; MSN strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of progressively responsible nursing experience in the designated clinical services area.
• RN Licenses / Registrations with required certifications (BLS, ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC) and instructor certifications as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Education: develop and deliver ongoing needs assessment, education programs, orientation, transition-to-practice programs, and research-based practices.
• Onboarding/Orientation: create individualized orientation and competency checklists for nursing roles; mentor unit preceptors.
• Competency Management: build and maintain a competency framework for daily clinical practice and evolving standards.
• Clinical Inquiry and Evidence-based Practice: translate and apply research to practice; mentor staff and disseminate outcomes.
• Collaborative Partnerships: work with nursing leaders and stakeholders; engage in area education and professional development.
• Mentorship: guide staff through professional development plans and role modeling.
• Leadership: lead educational programming; influence policy development and quality initiatives; ensure regulatory compliance.
