Job summary
The Nursing Assistant Trainee at Good Samaritan Wagner is enrolled in a learning program to develop the skills to provide personal care under a licensed nurse. The trainee works with a preceptor, performs under supervision, and completes training to qualify for CNA or state certification.
The program is hybrid, combining online coursework with hands-on skills development. During training, the trainee assists the care team, follows infection control and safety standards, supports daily living
Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
- Minimum age of 16; prior CNA experience in long-term care preferred.
- CNA license required within four months of employment.
- For applicable states, registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry.
- May classify as Sanford Category II Driver; must have a valid driver's license per policy.
Responsibilities
- Assist with personal care under supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Document client care and communicate changes to the nurse.
- Assist with activities of daily living and transfers.
- Support meals, hydration, and basic health needs.
- Follow infection control and location standards.
