Job summary

The Nursing Assistant Trainee program at Sanford Health trains individuals to provide patient-centered care under licensed supervision. Trainees work in a hybrid format with online coursework and hands-on skills practice, progressing toward CNA certification.

You will support daily living activities, document care, and communicate changes to the nursing team while following safety and infection control protocols. Eligibility includes a GED/HS diploma and 16 years of age or older.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
• Minimum age of 16.
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license required within four months of employment.
• When applicable, for applicable states, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry.
• Dependent on facility and required responsibilities, this role may classify as a Sanford Category II Driver requiring a motor. Vehicle report and proof of valid driver’s license. Must be medically qualified to perform the essential driving functions of this position as per our Sanford Driving Policy per the leaders request.

Responsibilities

• Assist with personal care and daily living activities under supervision.
• Document client care and report changes to licensed nurse.
• Work within infection prevention and safety standards and follow care plans.
• Participate in training and complete required milestones.
• Assist with transferring, mobility, meals, and routine tasks as assigned.
