Job summary

KY DOC KY State Penitent is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to provide comprehensive medical services to incarcerated patients under the supervision of the Site Medical Director and site physicians.

You will document care, respond to emergencies, and coordinate referrals while ensuring adherence to policies and state guidelines. This role requires corrections experience and an active NP license in the state.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Advanced degree in an approved and accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of employment.
• CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical care to inmate patients, including exams and chronic care.
• Document progress notes in SOAP format and follow formulary guidelines.
• Respond to emergencies and manage non-formulary drugs or referrals.
• Coordinate coverage for medical services during absences and scheduling changes.
• Maintain confidentiality and participate in facility committees as requested.
