UNC Health is seeking a Student Nurse Extern I for the 5 Women’s unit in Chapel Hill, NC. You will work with an RN partner under supervision to gain hands-on experience in postpartum and newborn care while developing essential nursing skills.

The externship runs May 24 – July 31, 2027 for prelicensure nursing students. Eligibility includes enrollment in an accredited nursing program with anticipated graduation within 12 months and NC CNA/Assistant certification requirements.

Qualifikationen

• Fluent in verbal and written English.
• Nursing Assistant I certification in NC.
• BLS certification.
• Prelicensure nursing program enrollment with anticipated graduation within 12 months.

Aufgaben

• Observes, collects, and documents patient information; report significant changes to RN or provider.
• Assist patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge.
• Provide routine care including vital signs, wound care, mobility, and basic clinical tasks.
