Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Current enrollment in an accredited prelicensure nursing program with anticipated graduation within 12 months from start of externship.
• Nursing Assistant I listed with NC DHHS.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Observe, collect, and document patient information and report significant changes to RN or provider.
• Assist patients and families with admission, orientation, and discharge.
• Provide care and treatments per plan of care, including vital signs, measurements, and simple wound care.
• Provide direct personal care for activities of daily living as outlined in care plans.
• Maintain clean work areas, restock supplies, and assist in orientation of new staff and students.
• Reinforce patient teaching and ensure patient understanding of instructions.
