Job summary

Placements24 is looking for an Area Sales Manager to cover the Upington, Northern Cape region, driving growth across mining, agriculture, and manufacturing sectors. You will build and manage distributor networks, engage key industrial clients, and present technical solutions while meeting targets.

The role requires a proven track record in technical B2B sales, strong negotiation and communication skills, CRM proficiency (Salesforce), and willingness to travel within South Africa.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of B2B sales experience in industrial supplies, equipment, or related technical fields.
• Proven track record of achieving and exceeding quotas in a territory-based sales role.
• Strong understanding of industrial applications and sector needs (mining, agriculture, manufacturing).
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport quickly.
• Willingness to travel extensively within the territory and have a valid driver’s license.
• CRM software proficiency (e.g., Salesforce) and MS Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve/exceed targets for Upington area and Northern Cape.
• Identify, recruit, and manage distributor/agent relationships in the territory.
• Engage with industrial clients to understand needs and promote product solutions.
• Conduct product demos, technical presentations, and site visits.
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms to secure new business and maintain accounts.
• Provide market intelligence on competitors, trends, and feedback.
• Collaborate with technical support and logistics to ensure timely orders.
• Manage sales pipeline, forecasts, and CRM activities.
• Attend industry trade shows to generate leads.
• Upsell and cross-sell products/services where possible.
