Job summary

Choice Hotels International, Inc. seeks an Area Director, Franchise Performance, Core Brands to drive commercial performance for a portfolio of midscale and upper midscale franchised hotels.

You will analyze market and portfolio data, collaborate with Revenue Management, Sales, Marketing, Loyalty, Distribution, Brand and Operations to drive RevPAR, ADR, occupancy, and owner profitability. Role requires Northeast/New England residency, with relocation not available.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years of progressive hotel industry experience with significant responsibility for commercial strategy, revenue performance, sales, marketing, or multi-property performance improvement.
• Minimum 10 years of hotel leadership experience, preferably including franchise performance, revenue management, commercial leadership, or multi-unit operational responsibility.
• Proven ability to influence business decisions through analytical insights and strategic consultation.
• Experience working effectively within a matrixed organization and influencing outcomes without direct authority.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a strategic commercial advisor to hotel owners and operators using portfolio, market and hotel data to identify revenue opportunities.
• Conduct property visits and business reviews that connect revenue strategy with sales, marketing, distribution and loyalty activities.
• Influence stakeholder adoption of commercial priorities through clear accountability and follow-through.
• Evaluate market demand, pricing strategy, distribution effectiveness, and sales performance to prioritize high-value opportunities.
• Develop actionable recommendations to improve revenue generation, profitability, and owner value.
• Drive portfolio and hotel-level improvements in RevPAR, ADR, occupancy and profitability.
• Analyze performance trends and market dynamics to guide performance strategies.
• Partner with Revenue Management and hotel leadership to align pricing, forecasting and segment strategies.
• Monitor dashboards and escalate risks with corrective actions when needed.
• Coordinate support from Revenue Management, Sales, Marketing, Loyalty, Distribution, Brand and Operations based on opportunities.
• Measure impact of resource activation and program adoption.
• Ensure hotel teams leverage corporate resources to maximize results.
• Translate data into practical recommendations for owners and leadership teams.
• Maintain expertise in industry trends and company initiatives.
