Job summary

BDO USA is seeking a Manager in the Industry Specialty Services Group to deliver nonprofit-focused accounting and consulting services to clients locally and virtually.

The role involves leading financial management engagements, supervising consultants, and developing scalable transitional services for nonprofit organizations while partnering with boards and leadership teams. The position may require travel and offers a pathway in a growth-oriented practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance is required.
• MBA or MPA is preferred.
• Seven or more years of accounting experience focused on nonprofits is required.
• Experience with nonprofit accounting principles is required.
• Supervisory/management experience is required.
• CPA is preferred.
• Proficient in Excel; Sage Intacct and NetSuite experience is preferred.
• Travel up to 20% may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior level financial management services to nonprofits undergoing change.
• Perform month-end close, audit support, budgeting, cash flow planning, and system implementation.
• Support boards in presenting financial analysis and communicating complex information.
• Ensure compliance with nonprofit reporting standards and regulatory updates.
• Assess financial sustainability and infrastructure of client organizations.
• Oversee grant compliance including billing and reporting to funders.
• Develop recommendations to improve accounting processes and controls.
