Job summary

The People Concern in Santa Monica is seeking an Overnight Support Specialist to join our Interim Housing team. You will work 12am–8:30am, onsite, four days a week, focusing on client-centered care for individuals facing homelessness, mental illness, and substance use challenges.

Your role emphasizes motivational interviewing, harm reduction, and trauma-informed approaches while ensuring safety and program adherence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year in a security/customer service role preferred.
• Ability to handle difficult situations professionally.

Responsibilities

• Provide welcoming, high-quality customer service to participants.
• Build trusting relationships using client-centered approaches including motivational interviewing, harm reduction, and trauma-informed care.
• Provide information on Samoshel services and hours.
• Collaborate with staff to maintain order and smooth operations.
• Conduct crisis intervention using non-violent techniques.
• Monitor and ensure safety of the floor and facilities.
