Job summary

The People Concern in Santa Monica, CA is seeking an Overnight Support Specialist to provide 100% onsite care at Cloverfield Services Center. You will greet clients, monitor facilities, conduct crisis interventions, and help create a safe, supportive environment for individuals experiencing homelessness and related challenges.

This full-time, non-exempt position reports to the Senior Program Manager and requires engaging with clients, maintaining documentation, and collaborating with a dedicated

Qualifications

• Minimum one year experience in related work.
• Effective customer service skills and ability to handle difficult situations.
• Ability to work independently and think critically.
• Professional conduct regardless of circumstances.
• Commitment to improving the community through empowerment and dignity.
• Familiarity with non-violent crisis intervention.
• Familiarity with issues faced by population served.
• Self-motivate and organize/ motivate others.
• Able to obtain Food Handlers, CPR and First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for immediate client needs and requests.
• Monitor the floor and ensure safety and cleanliness of common areas and dorms.
• Be visibly present on the floor and engage with clients.
• Conduct regular floor walk-throughs of the facility.
• Create a supportive environment to help clients move toward stability.
• Attend staff meetings, trainings and retreats as scheduled.
• Oversee client bed area maintenance in a trauma-informed manner.
• Facilitate client engagement activities such as groups.
• Complete incident reports, update shift logs, and document in HMIS.
• Develop trusting relationships using motivational interviewing and trauma-informed care.
• Intervene during crises to de-escalate situations with safety in mind.
• Work with team to provide integrated care for clients experiencing homelessness, mental illness, and addiction.
• Communicate effectively and timely with management, peers, and clients.
• Maintain client confidentiality following agency, state, and HIPAA laws.
• Other duties as assigned.
