Job summary

WSP is seeking a Traffic Management Center Technician I to monitor ITS devices in Knoxville, TN. The role includes night and weekend shifts, with both full-time and part-time options. You will support incident management, roadwork coordination, and data entry for events and calls.

Responsibilities include monitoring, data collection, device troubleshooting, and communicating roadway conditions to TDOT and partners. A background check is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 0-2 years of experience with a TMC facility or traffic management.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient with MS Office, spreadsheets and databases.
• Analytical and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work well with TDOT staff.
• Ability to use digital roadway maps and understand roadway elements.
• Must pass a Criminal History Background Check.

Responsibilities

• Provide human monitoring and operation of ITS devices and act per SOP guidance.
• Traffic Incident Management and coordination of roadway responses.
• Enter data for incidents, events, and calls into the database.
• Assist in traffic data collection for system performance analysis.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and document device failures; prioritize repairs.
• Receive notices of roadwork or incidents and coordinate TDOT responses.
• Answer inquiries and provide roadway condition information to partners.
• Prepare reports and support data for evaluation by the State.
