Job summary

Methodist Midlothian Medical Center in Midlothian, TX seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to perform ABG, PFTs, and ventilator support for adults and neonates under medical director oversight.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited Respiratory Care Program, current BLS and ACLS, NRP and/or PALS within 1 year of hire, Texas license, NBRC registration, and at least 6 months of experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support — must obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Currently licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies, and electrocardiograms.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation including bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview and review of medical records.
• Interprets CXR, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing patient information.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots all cardiopulmonary equipment such as ventilators, oxygen analyzers, delivery devices and blood gas analyzers.
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of all cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
• Uses appropriate patient scripting to improve satisfaction.
• Performs other job duties as required

Education

Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

NRP/PALS within 1 year of hire

Texas license as Respiratory Care Practitioner

Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)

6 months of respiratory care experience
