Job summary

Methodist Richardson Medical Center in the Dallas area is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to deliver advanced respiratory care to adults and neonates, including ventilator support, ABG analysis, and PFTs, under indirect supervision.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited Respiratory Care Program, Texas licensure, NBRC registration, and certifications (BLS, ACLS; NRP/PALS within 1 year).

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program is required.
• Current Basic Life Support certification is required.
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification is required.
• NRP/PALS must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the Texas Medical Board is required.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care is required.
• At least 6 months of respiratory care experience is preferred, new graduates encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies, and ECG.
• Prepares treatment evaluations including bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview, and review of medical records.
• Uses critical thinking to determine appropriate actions.
• Interprets CXR, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing patient data.
• Assembles, checks, operates, and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment such as ventilators and gas analyzers.
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of all cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
• Utilizes patient-facing scripting to improve satisfaction.
• Performs other duties as required.
