Job summary

The Recruiting Hive is seeking a Roadway / Utility Superintendent for night operations in Winston-Salem, NC. You will lead heavy civil crews on DOT-related roadway and utility projects, coordinating schedules and ensuring safety.

This role requires 5+ years of heavy civil experience, night DOT work, and the ability to read plans while managing field crews. The position offers a stable pipeline of work across NC/VA and room to grow within the company.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of heavy civil roadway and/or underground utility experience at superintendent or senior foreman level.
• Proven night work experience on DOT roadway or utility projects.
• Knowledge of grading, storm drainage, water/sewer installation, and paving sequencing.
• Understanding of work zone traffic control.
• Able to read plans and specs and keep accurate quantities.
• Ready to work a heavy night schedule.
• Valid driver's license.
• NCDOT project experience is a plus.
• OSHA 30 is a plus.
• HCSS HeavyJob or similar field tracking experience is a plus.
• Based in the Triad or relocate to Winston-Salem area.

Responsibilities

• Run night shift field operations on roadway and utility projects.
• Lead roadway, grading and underground utility crews and foremen.
• Schedule and coordinate subcontractors, equipment and material deliveries; plan the work and shift the schedule accordingly.
• Own jobsite safety, toolbox talks and OSHA compliance on every shift.
• Set up and manage traffic control and lane closures inside approved night work windows.
• Work directly with NCDOT inspectors and project engineers.
• Track installed quantities and daily production.
• Complete daily reports, crew time and field documentation.
• Coordinate handoffs with the project manager and day side of the job.
