Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a patient access professional to register, admit and schedule patients for emergency, urgent care and hospital outpatient services. You will verify demographics, insurance coverage and billing information, collect payments, and support timely care while maintaining privacy and accuracy.

The role requires great customer service, attention to detail and the ability to work on the 3rd shift (10:30pm–7:00am) in Janesville, WI.

Qualifications

• Graduate of high school or equivalent preferred
• One to two years customer service experience required
• Knowledge of third-party payors preferred
• Medical terminology preferred

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, visitors and customers with friendliness and appropriate eye contact
• Assist with registration, admission and scheduling across ER, urgent care, and outpatient services
• Verify demographics, insurance information and eligibility
• Enter patient information into the electronic medical record (EPIC) and ensure accuracy
• Collect co-pays, self-pay amounts, and pre-payments as applicable
• Maintain cash drawer and balance at shift end in accordance with policy
• Provide patient and family with clear information and directions
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely patient flow and accurate billing information
