Job summary

Indiana University Health System is hiring a Part-Time Night Patient Care Technician (PCA). The PCA will support bedside nursing, assist with meals, hygiene, and mobility, and ensure patient safety with appropriate equipment and vigilance.

A strong bedside manner and teamwork are essential for providing excellent patient care during night shifts. The role requires BLS certification and the ability to work in a fast-paced hospital setting, with opportunities for development and tuition

Qualifications

• BLS certification required through AHA or completed during IU Health PCA program.
• Knowledge of age-appropriate care
• Up-to-date knowledge of patient care procedures and standards
• Proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to maintain mental alertness under stress
• Ability to manage a high workload with limited time
• Knowledge of infection control principles
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks

Responsibilities

• Provide drinks and assist with meal ordering and walking.
• Assist with baths and provide clean linens and gowns.
• Obtain vital signs and report abnormalities to RN or charge nurse.
• Maintain patient safety using gait belts, bed/chair alarms, and close supervision.
• Deliver compassionate bedside care in a fast-paced environment.
