Indiana University Health System is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCA) for part-time night shifts to provide attentive bedside care and support to RNs. You will help patients with meals, mobility, hygiene, and comfort, while observing safety measures and reporting changes promptly.

Qualifications

• Requires current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or IU Health PCA program.
• Knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of patients.
• Up to date knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
• Must withstand high levels of tension and stress.
• Maintain concentration with interruptions and variable noise.
• Ability to exercise judgment and initiative in problem resolution.
• Set priorities and manage a high workload within limited time.
• Knowledge of PCA-related procedures, equipment, and standards.
• Infection control knowledge applicable to patient care.
• Physically demanding, repetitive movements may be required.
• Ability to read and perform basic math.
• Organize tasks and attend to details.
• Good personal hygiene and aseptic techniques.

Responsibilities

• Provide drinks, assist with meal ordering, and encourage walking.
• Assist with baths and provide clean linens and gowns.
• Support bedside RN by obtaining vital signs and reporting abnormalities.
• Maintain patient safety using gait belts and alarms, staying within arm's reach.
• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment.
